The three things you're actually paying for
Every DV360 budget breaks into the same three parts. Media is the cost of the impressions themselves, and it passes straight through. The platform fee is what you pay for access to DV360, charged as a percentage of that media spend — this is the negotiable number and the one partners compete on. Service is separate: onboarding and support, or full campaign management, priced either as an uplift on the platform fee or as its own retainer.
A worked example
Say you plan to run $2M through DV360 this year, buying license-and-support through a partner. Here's roughly how that adds up.
| Line | Estimated cost |
|---|---|
| Media, at cost | $2,000,000 |
| Platform fee (est. 9–14%) | $180,000 – $280,000 |
| Support uplift (est. 0.5–2%) | $10,000 – $40,000 |
| All-in, before managed service | $2.19M – $2.32M |
Push that spend to $8M and the percentage drops; drop it to $400k and a partner's minimum monthly fee may set the price regardless of the rate. The comparison tool models exactly this, which is why the cheapest partner at $8M isn't the cheapest at $400k.
Why two companies pay different rates
Same platform, same features, very different bills. Committed spend is the biggest lever — volume earns a lower percentage. Contract term matters, as does the service tier you buy and whether you're bundling DV360 with SA360 or CM360. And because there's no public rate card, your leverage comes almost entirely from knowing what else is on the table. The full mechanics are on the DV360 pricing page.
Get two or three quotes and compare them side by side. Partners quote differently when they know you're shopping, and the overlap between their ranges shows you exactly how much room there is to negotiate.
Common questions
Is DV360 cheaper direct from Google or through a partner?
For most advertisers, a partner is the cheaper and simpler route in. Direct enterprise contracts usually require large annual commitments, while partners offer lower entry points and fold in onboarding and support.
Does the DV360 cost include YouTube inventory?
YouTube runs through DV360 as part of your media, so it's included in what you buy. But YouTube and other non-exchange inventory can carry different fee treatment than standard display, so confirm how a partner handles it in your quote.
Can I negotiate the DV360 platform fee?
Yes. The percentage reflects the partner's margin and your leverage. Higher spend, longer terms, and bundling multiple platforms all bring it down, and comparing quotes is the most reliable way to find the floor.
What's the cheapest way to use DV360?
License-only access with in-house campaign management avoids service fees, but it only pays off if you have a skilled trader. Below roughly $50k per month in spend, fees and minimums often outweigh the benefit.
